So many legends have played here that there are holes named for them, such as Sam Snead and Byron Nelson. The Alpine Course heads downhill towards Deer Lake and is as beautiful as it is challenging.

Boyne isn't the only name in golf. Another one of the finest Northern Michigan golf courses worth your time is Crystal Mountain. At this full service resort there are two courses as well as professional instruction available for all skill levels. The first course is called Mountain Ridge and weaves through lush forests and fairways lined with trees. Betsie Valley is the other course found here and is a real beauty, featuring rolling green meadows, crystalline creeks and peaceful ponds. You can either walk or take a cart through the Betsie Valley course, whose fairways are dotted with delicate wildflowers.
